Poets and Promoters Networking Forum

Poets and Promoters are invited to a Networking event. Promoters will be pitching their plans for the year. Poets can bring their dairies and schmooze for gigs. This is a pilot event to help build a sense of community among poets and promoters. We’re looking for expressions of intent to attend so we know how many to plan for. Costs will be kept as low as possible.
There will be a registration fee of £3 and all attendees will be listed in a Forum pack with contact details and a 50 word biog which each delegate can take away. The provisional plan is to keep things fairly informal with plenty of time to chat with old friends and make new contacts and we’ll finish the evening with food and alcohol.

The idea is for poets and events organisers to get together at the start of the year to outline plans, network and book gigs whilst the year is still young. This is very much a pilot event and I would like various promoters and organisations to give five to ten minute flash presentations about their plans and opportunities for the year ahead.

The aim is for poets and organisers to have time to catch up/meet new people outside the pressured environment of a gig and give the opportunity for “joined-up thinking” across the poetry scene. Hopefully this will be an experiment that bears repeating in the future if participants find it of benefit.

The Forum will be from 3pm to 6pm with “flash” (as in brief) presentations throughout the afternoon. Those who wish to stay on for a meal/drinks can do so with a wrap up time of 8pm allowing people to get back at a reasonable time if they have had to travel.

Oxford is only an hour from London and Birmingham and we hope you’ll have a great time and make some new connections.
