Allographic: Other Voices featuring Hollie McNish and Hayley & Matt

So, what’s Other Voices then? It’s a simple concept really – a nice function room at the top of a pleasant pub, a stage, a microphone, a bunch of lovely people, and some words. And free snacks! Entry is a mere £5/ £3.50 for concessions and performers. Doors are at 7:30pm and the gig kicks off at 8pm.
So – come and show us what you’ve got: step up to the open mic or enjoy the talent on display (ideally both, of course!). Pretty much anything goes, as long as you respect the audience and the ethos of the night!

Hollie McNish is a published UK poet and spoken word artist, based between London and Cambridge. She has released two poetry albums, both to critical acclaim, and a first collection of written poetry, Papers. She has appeared in many and diverse venues across the UK and abroad, been a slam champion both nationally and internationally, and runs Cambridgeshire’s youth slam programme. http://www.holliemcnish.com

Hayley and Matt are based in Cambridge, and started creating poetry earlier this year. They previously released an album of acoustic-folk music (“Last October”), and have now moved into the world of spoken word, blending poetry with abstract music. They are in the process of recording a poetry EP, to be released later this year.

And we’re chuffed that Hollie will be running a workshop for us (“Slam Don’t Shout”) at 3pm in The Fountain beforehand (a mere £5/ £3.50 concessions). If you come to that, you’ll get in free to the evening show if you perform, and concessionary rate otherwise…

We’ll be recording the night for future podcasts and CDs, and we’ll be showing off the latest issue of Small Word, a poetry-short-story-photography-artwork magazine of petite loveliness that we launched in Cambridge in 2011.
