Allographic: Spoken Open Mic featuring Matt MacDonald

So, what’s Allographic Open Mic then? It’s a simple concept really – a lovely library at the top of a pleasant bistro; a stage, a microphone, a bunch of lovely people, and some words. And free snacks! Entry is free, but we take a donation (i.e. pay as you like). Doors are at 6:30pm and the gig kicks off at 7pm.
So – come and show us what you’ve got: step up to the open mic or enjoy the talent on display (ideally both, of course!). Pretty much anything goes, as long as you respect the audience and the ethos of the night!

Bring your poems, stories, dramatic monologues (or duologues!), improv, hip hop, and anything else that fits the bill of spoken word.

Our feature guest is a poet of glorious, elegiac vision, who has a way with words in at least two languages.

Matt Macdonald is a writer, performer, and reviewer based in Edinburgh who gigs frequently across the Central Belt and North East of England. He has been writing for nearly 6 years and has been published in several anthologies, magazines and collections. His debut pamphlet Who Are Your People? sold out its first printing in 4 months and the second edition is available now.

The pamphlet formed the core of his first solo Edinburgh Fringe show, an intimate, soaring reminiscence in various languages. Having performed in the Edinburgh Fringe for the last 4 years, Matt is looking to bring his second solo show this August and competed in the Scottish National Poetry Slam in early 2015.

We’ll be showing off our latest pamphlets and other poetry collections, along with the latest issue of Small Word, a poetry-short-story-photography-artwork magazine of petite loveliness that we launched in Cambridge in 2011.
