Allographic Workshop: The Art of Getting Published with J.S. Watts

Allographic has three forms of live event – “Other Voices”, open mic with featured guests every 4th Sunday of the month; “Allographic presents…”, a loose series of events with bigger names from the spoken word scene, and a burgeoning set of workshops for aspirant poets, storytellers, and other writers and performers.

Attendees of the workshop will get free entry to the Other Voices show that evening if they get up and perform, otherwise you get the concession rate.

Hoping to get your work published? Getting published is an art, not a science. There are no guarantees, but come and hear how local writer J.S.Watts had her short stories and poems published internationally, along with two poetry books and a novel. J.S has been poetry editor and poetry reviews editor for two magazines, so knows all about rejection from both sides of the fence.

Understand what turns editors on and off. Share lessons learned the hard way and see if they could work for you. Bring questions and ideas with you, as well as pen and paper, the aim is for an interactive workshop customised, as far as possible, to the needs of the attendees, whether you’re looking to get your first poem published or are hoping for bigger things like a book.
