The Anti-Slam (Part of In Other Words)

So, you’re familiar with the notion of a poetry slam, yes? People get up, perform their poetry, get given applause and scores, and the one with the highest number of points wins. Kind of like The X Factor, but for poetry. And without overpaid idiots bestowing their opinion upon the performers and the audience.
So imagine what would happen if we went the other way – delved into everything that was appalling about poetry and its performance. Took time to celebrate the cringeworthy, big up the bilge, broker the broken, mete out mediocrity. Yes, well, you get the idea.

We’ve joined forces with the purveyors of The Anti-Slam to bring you some of the best poets in town and nearby doing their absolute best to be as rubbish as possible.

Hosted by Fay Roberts and Dan Simpson: Poet, with threats of some extremely “special” guests, the line-up is being firmed-up; watch this space!

And you can enjoy/ survive some of the best/ worst poetry in the region today.
